Goldman Sachs says:
A new technology is redefining the way we transact. Blockchain has the potential to change the way we buy and sell, interact with government and verify the authenticity of everything from property titles to organic vegetables.
It combines the openness of the internet with the security of cryptography to give everyone a faster, safer way to verify key information and establish trust.

Formerly the WordPress Website Design workshop - we've decided to branch out and expand our horizons.
Every month we will examine interesting and useful things on the web. As a starter we will look at websites about health, finances, productivity, collaboration, selling on the web & exotic products such as Bitcoin and the TOR browser.
We intend to be responsive to our attendees so future subjects will evolve as our attendees make their interests known.
Also, please check the website calendar or the hotline (914-946-5511) on Wednesday in case of last minute cancellation.
For this workshop we expect to do the following:
- Examine web based applications that that can poll members of a group for their opinions on various subjects
- Answer any questions that attendees have about website design
- After this we will join up with the All Things Mobile workshop & celebrate the end of the workshop season with some refreshments
For this workshop we will examine a cloud based app called Dropbox Paper.
Dropbox Paper is a web service intended for use by teams to collaborate on projects where team members contribute to a shared document as a project solution is developed.
We believe that it could be an effective app for group collaboration when geographically dispersed groups are working on projects & need to communicate by sharing & editing content in a collaborative manner. We intend to take this app on a test ride & see if it meets our needs.
If you're attending, you might consider bringing a laptop or a mobile device so that we can test this app in a lab setting although bringing a device is strictly optional.
Dropbox Paper is also accessible by desktop & mobile devices.
Also, please check the website calendar or the hotline (914-946-5511) on Wednesday in case of last minute cancellation.
For this workshop we will copy all the website files & WordPress database files from an existing website & upload these files to another host. The goal being to move the website from the existing host to a new host.
If there is time, we will examine the free version of a cloud based app called HipChat. HipChat is a web service for internal private online chat and instant messaging. We believe that it could be an effective app for group collaboration when geographically dispersed groups are working on projects & need to communicate by sharing & editing content in a collaborative manner. We intend to take this app on a test ride & see if it meets our needs.
